Peer support
What is peer support?
Peer support is a supportive relationship grounded in shared lived experience. It’s about connecting with someone who truly understands what it’s like to live with an invisible illness, disability, or ongoing health challenge.
A peer worker uses their own experiences of recovery, pacing and self-management to walk alongside others in a way that feels validating and hopeful. It’s not about clinical advice or treatment — it’s about genuine understanding, empathy and encouragement from someone who’s been there too.
Peer work can help people feel less alone, more empowered and supported to move at their own pace toward what matters most to them.
